In 1981, Nino Cea opened Geppetto Trattoria with the vision to create an unpretentious eatery for the locals that focused on home- style Italian cooking. This idea was inspired by those eateries found in his hometown region of Puglia in Italy. Along with head chef and son Adriano in the kitchen, Geppetto focuses on simple rustic dishes with particular focus on slow cooked food, seafood and offal. Situated opposite the MCG in East Melbourne, the restaurant is fully licensed and still offers BYO (wine only). The restaurant seats 40 people downstairs and up to 35 in a private dining room with a variety of function menus available.
