The name, Tonka, pays homage to the building which was the former home of the iconic Melbourne nightclub, Honky Tonks. The blue city of Jodhpur inspired Tonka’s aesthetic concept with splashes of Jaipur's pink. Art adorned ceilings are the hero of the space, the installations by Melbourne artist Naomi Troski capture the design brief: ‘the magic of India.’ Tonka embraces two quintessential Melbourne perspectives. Firstly, its famous laneway culture which informs the casual Tonka Bar where cocktails and tastes from the Tandoor are offered in a relaxed non-reservation area. The second aspect begins with a walk through the ‘kitchen dry store,’ which leads to the dining room, Tonka. Book a table and enjoy the bright, open room with sweeping views of the Yarra River, MCG and Arts Precinct. Adam D’Sylva and Mykal and Kate Bartholomew have created their new Melbourne home and are thrilled to welcome you to their Indian dream.
